Miami is all abuzz with soccer headlines this week. The most recent news by David Beckham announcing he will host an official watch party, at Miami’s favorite spot on the Miami River, The Wharf. Soccer fans are welcomed to attend the viewing party, which will take place Wednesday July 11, 2018 from 12 Noon to 7:00PM. The game begins at 2:00PM.
This local news comes on the heels of one of the biggest stories this week, whereBeckham and his partners released the first image, of a proposed stadium complex and park that would replace a city-owned golf course near Miami International Airport. Said location would be known as “Miami Freedom Park” and would provide a home for a future Major League Soccer franchise.
The viewing event will feature England playing Croatia. The 2018 FIFA World Cup is the 21st FIFA World Cup, an international football tournament contested by the men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA once every four years. The event promises to be exciting with the presence of Beckham and his associates amongst hundreds of fans enjoying “fútbol on the River” showing on large screens.
Since opening its doors in November 2017, The Wharf has welcomed a multitude of cultural, art, music, fashion, corporate and community special events hosting thousands. The pop-up event space is a precursor to a permanent mixed-use food and entertainment destination known as “Riverside Wharf” on the [same] site.
