American Idol finalist and Miami local Michelle Sussett will take the stage at Ball & Chain, 1513 SW 8th Street, on July 21, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The 22-year-old singer, who emigrated to Miami from Venezuela four years ago, made a lasting impression on American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, ending her run on the hit TV show as a Top 10 finalist. Today, the recording of her first single is underway, here in Miami. The July 21 performance will be the first public unveiling of the artist’s forthcoming work with her band “Higher Ground”.
“I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to perform at Ball & Chain, a Miami institution that has hosted some of the most talented performers. Living in Miami and being able to headline my first show at Ball & Chain is a dream come true” -Sussett said.
Ball & Chain is an historic live music venue on Calle Ocho, in the heart of Little Havana, that has received global acclaim and success. Ball & Chain is known for having hosted such music legends as Billie Holiday, Count Basie and Chet Baker. Recently, the bar has become a backdrop for music videos accompanying today’s biggest pop hits. Artists Camila Cabello and Cardi B, among others, have used Ball & Chain as the setting for music videos for songs “Havana” and “I Like It,” respectively.
