Okay Miami. We are already about halfway through the first month of 2017. How are those fitness goals working out for you? You said you were going to wake up earlier, you said you were going to make this your year- no excuses. But are you? If the answer is “no” and you have found that it is harder to get yourself to go to the gym than you thought then fear not! I have compiled a comprehensive lift of places where you can get your sweat on in Midtown Miami and boy- are you in luck! And if you said that you are already smashing those goals then awesome job! This list will give you options you can try to mix things up- regardless of how those new you goals are going! So without further ado here it is- my list of top sweats in Midtown Miami!
Let’s start in Wynwood. Known as the cultural art hub of the 305, Wynwood is also home to several different places to get your fitness on. Judging from the looks of local residents that should come as no surprise.
Barry’s Bootcamp – Midtown
Here you will get a non-stop 45 minute workout with energetic music and instructors. You can choose to do a combination of time on the treadmill and time on the floor using weights and resistance training or you can choose to do double floor. But don’t think that just because you’re on the treadmill it will be easy. They make sure to keep you guessing as to what you will be doing that day whether it’s intervals, incline or dun dun dun duunnnnnn- dynamic mode. Depending on which day of the week you go you will be working on a different area of the body- unless you go to a full body day. Check their site for the schedule!

You have probably heard of CrossFit by now. It’s a fitness phenomenon sweeping the world. It is a constantly varied, high intensity form of training that uses functional movements. What does that mean? Constant variation means that it keeps your body guessing- the workouts will always be different. Muscle confusion has been proven to be effective for quite some time now. High intensity means that you are going to be putting in work! No taking it easy for this type of training. Functional movements just means that the moves you will learn here will relate to your every day life. Best part? You can check it out right in Wynwood! Maybe that was the second best part- the first might be that they are currently running a special where your first month is only $1 when you commit to 2 months.

Triple Threat Fitness
They provide you with an intense hour of bootcamp incorporating a variety of moves. Sometimes workouts are done outside (because I mean why not? It’s Miami), sometimes indoors. Perhaps the coolest part is that they use heart rate monitors to help you see how hard you’re working on a large monitor during your workout! Sound like something your interested in? Good news! They are also offer your first month for $1 when you commit to 2 months.

What sweaty list would be complete without spinning? WhnWheels is the product of Lisa Gaylord and Nina Zevallos- 2 of Miami’s respected trainers. Classes are 45 minutes of intense spinning with awesome music. The AC controlled space is the ideal size for riders looking for a more intimate experience (read: you won’t get lost peddling in a sea of cyclists). Riders new to WynWheels must complete a METHOD session before participating in other classes.

BodyTek is a bootcamp that keeps you guessing! The workouts are always different and the energy is always high. Using a variety of equipment workouts are performed in a circuit style, participants can expect to burn a lot of calories every class. They utilize explosive and compound movements with just a teeny tiny bit of rest in between- so yes you get to catch your breath but your heart rate stays high. This ensures that maximum calorie burn I was talking about! The studio has AC AND showers so you can freshen up before heading out.

Venturing out of Wynwood you will find some great places to sweat too. Like DBC Fitness. DBC stands for dumbbells, barbells and cables- in case you were wondering. Created to close the gap between training and science, DBC Fitness uses biomechanics to create custom and corrective training programs to help athletes maximize their full potential. They cater to professional athletes and those who want to train like a professional athlete. If the name sounds familiar it’s probably because this is where Lebron use to train. If you are looking for a scientific approach with one-on-one training then look no further.

For the serious gym goer. Iron Addicts is an upscale facility that has everything you need to get a solid pump on. Dumbbells, benches, barbells, chains- allll the stuff a powerlifter or would be powerlifter or just someone looking for a no-nonsense, to the point workout could dream of. If you enjoy the training you get at a traditional gym but don’t necessarily enjoy your fellow gym people doing curls in the squat rack or spending more time watching their favorite show than they are working out then this is the place for you. All at an affordable cost and complete with a cafe for your post workout gains.

The Fitbox Method
The Fitbox Method is where you can get a combo of fitness- all in 1 hour. Approximately 30 minutes is dedicated to cardio kickboxing then there is 20 minutes of resistance training with 10 minutes on a fan bike- and let me tell you those bikes are no walk in the park. They promise to deliver the after burn effect- the “excess post-exercise oxygen consumption” which helps you burn more calories!
