Top 5 Tequila Cocktails You Must Try This Weekend

The weekend is around the corner. Not just any weekend, but Cinco de Mayo weekend. While we love a good Corona or Dos XX, this Saturday calls for none other than, TEQUILA! And really, any excuse is a good excuse for a cocktail. Here are a five of our favorite tequila cocktails that are sure to please:

Spicy Paloma

Want a refreshing drink that’s perfect all year round? The Spicy Paloma is the combination of bitter and spice. Once you’ve mastered this cocktail recipe, try experimenting with the amount of agave syrup. For a skinny cocktail, you can leave out the syrup entirely.

  • 1 1/2 oz Milagro Reposado Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Ancho Reyes Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 3 oz Grapefruit Soda
  • 1 lime wedge

Preparation: Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of the glass and salt half the rim. Add ice, Milagro Reposado, Ancho Reyes and grapefruit soda. Squeeze a wedge of lime and discard. Garnish with a thin grapefruit wheel.

Milagro Reposado Tequila

  • Alcohol Volume: 40%

Hibiscus Lime Margarita

Visually the Hibiscus Lime Margarita is the prettiest of drinks, but just wait till you sip one. Get the girls together and try this super simple recipe for the perfect day time drink.

  • 1 oz Olmeca Altos Tequila Reposado
  • 1 oz (2 tablespoons) Hibiscus Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz (2 tablespoons) Olmeca Altos Tequila Plata
  • 3/4 oz clear orange-flavored liqueur
  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice

Preparation: Combine syrup, tequila, and lime juice; pour over ice and top with selzer. Serve with a lime wedge and a piece of crystallized ginger.
Olmeca Altos Tequila Reposado

 

  • Alcohol Volume: 38%
  • Color: Light brown
  • Aroma: Notes of wood and vanilla
  • Taste: Sweet and citric

Sharp Hill Sunrise

  • 1 oz Herradura Silver Tequila
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • 1 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 6 oz Squirt citrus soda
  • 1 pinch salt

Preparation: Pour the tequila, triple sec, orange juice and lime juice into a Collins glass 3/4 filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Add Squirt, and a dash of salt. Stir briefly and serve.

Herradura Silver Tequila

  • Alcohol Content: 40% 
  • Color: Light straw
  • Aroma: Green and cooked agave with herbal and slightly woody notes
  • Taste: Agave, woody notes and slightly citric flavor

Spicy Sage Margarita

Typically we try not to mess with perfection, but the Margarita is one exception. This crisp Spicy Sage Margarita Cocktail is sure to heat up your night.

  • 2 oz Avión Silver Tequila
  • 3/4 oz Jalapeño-Infused Elderflower Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup
  • Sage leaves

Preparation: Muddle sage leaves in a shaker. Combine the ingredients in the shaker. Shake vigorously. Double strain over ice. Garnish with sage leaf.

Avión Silver Tequila

  • Alcohol Content: 40%
  • Color: Light straw
  • Aroma: Raw agave scent, floral
  • Taste: Vegetal and sweet

El Diablo

  • 1½ oz. Tequila Ocho Reposado
  • ½ oz. crème de cassis
  • ½ oz. fresh lime juice
  • 2–3 oz. ginger beer

Preparation: Combine all ingredients, except ginger beer, and shake. Fine-strain into an ice-filled Collins glass, top with ginger beer. Garnish with  lime wedge and fresh blackberry or candied ginger (optional).

Tequila Ocho Reposado 

  • Alcohol Content: 40%
  • Color: Golden
  • Aroma: Almond, vanilla, tapenade
  • Taste: Soft, delicate, vanilla
