This month’s July edition of Rooftop Sessions welcomes Shira Lee & the Space Cowboys (@shemakesmusic) to the A+E District! Inspired by music from times gone by, Shira Lee connects to a vintage feeling while bringing her youthful, exuberant energy to the stage when she sings. She’s influenced by all kinds of music including blues, jazz, folk, and Americana from the early 20th century through today. A singer-songwriter and self-taught musician, Shira Lee plays guitar, ukulele, banjo, and collects many stringed instruments. Her music is introspective, acoustic, Florida Folk. Her love for acting, dance, and theatre eventually led her to a world of music where she found her voice. Shira Lee is a multi-disciplinary performing artist with a BFA in Theatre Performance from New World School of the Arts. She recently starred in the Miami-made series GROWN featured on Complex.com; it’s screening live at Canvas Miami on Saturday, August 11 (RSVP here!). Jermaine Lamarr Cole is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. Born on a military base in Germany but raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cole initially gained recognition as a rapper following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in early-2007. Intent on further pursuing a solo career as a rapper, he went on to release two additional mixtapes, The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights after signing to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint in 2009.
