MMM Interactive Guide to Gay Pride 2018

It’s officially Pride weekend in Miami, a time that celebrates the LGBTQ community in a big and bold beautiful way. While many organizations like SAVE, GVSC, Unity Coalition have a series of programs and events throughout the week long period, it is the Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival that takes center stage. With thousands of people turning out to participate and enjoy the spectacle.

Some of the key highlights of Pride always revolve around the recurring installations of:

  • Pride Lights the Night
  • Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade
  • Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride Pageant
  • PAMM Pride Night
  • Beach Party Festival Village

UNITY COALITION INTERACTIVE PARADE

Of considerable importance is the 180-degree turn that Unity Coalition/Coalición Unida (UC|CU) has led from last year’s silent funeral procession themed parade float, highlighting the violence experienced by Transgender persons, and the many murdered across the U.S.. This year they focus on  the Summer of ’69 | 50 years of PRIDE, and the Stonewall Riots that led to LGBT equality and recognition, with a fun tie-dye and love theme, mixed with interactive posters of nearly 20 advocates of the LGBTQ community over the last 50 years, including Elizabeth Taylor, Freddie Mercury, Harvey Milk, Pedro Zamora and many more. These interactive posters are scannable with the MMM LIVE app and lead the viewer to interactive videos and stories that allow them to learn more of the figure’s role in equality, rights and bettering all of our lives over the past 50 years.

Herb Sosa, president & CEO of UC|CU stated to MMM that this celebration will become an interactive exhibit of posters in different venues around Miami over the next year, following Sundays Pride parade. If you would like to learn more about the history and ambassadors of the LGBTQ community, locations of the exhibits, and a full list of people found in these interactive posters, click here.
