What project are you working on now?
Just finished a branding project for Effen Vodka
Nice! How has your work developed since the previous show?
Continuing my same focus of juxtaposing female figures with metaphysical animal masks and the relationships to imbued and perceived ideas of power
So unique. What’s the last show that you saw?
Wyn317’s Joe Iurato show had the pleasure of meeting him some years back.. he’s a really cool humble guy!
What’s the last show that surprised you? Why?
I was at a exhibit at the national gallery and I was historic pieces I though were medium sized and shocked to find some were as big at 10 ft tall.
Woah! What’s your favorite place to see art?
I really have no favorite places I’ll take it where its available, whether on line, in the gallery/ museum or on the street… but if I had to give 1 preference I’d just say in person… so much is lost in photographs and through digital screens. In person is when you get the full impact
What’s the most indispensable item in your studio?
My synthetic brushes. I’ve been spoiled with using them so now I just hate using other brushes.. I can , lol
Where are you finding ideas for your work these days?
I like to think I’m sort of a sponge so I get them from everywhere… conversations, music, literature, politics… I think that with the fluidity of inspiration… what inspires me changes from piece to piece.
Do you collect anything?
I definitely have a problem when it comes to a well a design sneaker so I have lots of pairs.. wouldn’t say I’m a sneaker head because in a way my reason is a little different from most of them.. I just appreciate innovative design as it applies to footwear.. that and I also collect art.
Dope. What’s the last artwork you made?
Created 3 small music related pieces that will be in a show titled Now or Neverland by the MUCE group during art Basel.
What’s your art-world pet peeve? People who flake.. I’m someone that always wants to be known for always doing what I saw so it’s always frustrating to deal with ppl that flake or over promise yet under deliver.
What’s your favorite post-gallery watering hole or restaurant?
Currently I’d have to say Wynwood Yard, always a good vibe and I like the ppl and sounds… esp on Sundays. Its great for having a drink and winding down.
Love that place. What work of art do you wish you owned? What would you do to get it?
Anything by Alphonse Mucha or Shawn Barber…. Early in my career both artists where highly influential in the way I developed my aesthetic….. So I would love to have a piece by either
What international art destination do you most want to visit?
Paris for all the history
